As part of a project during my bachelor’s, I set up the Playtesting Station for our University together with a colleague. It consisted of at least one webcam, a gaming setup (a computer and either mouse and keyboard or a XBOX controller), and a keylogger. A program (XSplit) combined these inputs into one stream that was broadcasted into a nearby room. In this room the game developers of the game to be tested could watch the player and his or hers behaviour.
I also provided questionaries, prepared the players, and analysed the results.
This setup is still being used at the FH Technikum Wien for playtesting purposes.
