Sam’s Garden

The main “goal” during our master’s was to create a small video game. In collaboration with the SAE we did just that and more! Our team was by far the largest, with 13 team members working together during peak. Our game was also one of the most complex games of our class and gained a lot of praise due to its complexity and originality.

Sam’s Garden ist ein Echtzeitstrategiespiel mit Rollenspielelementen dessen Ziel es ist, eine Pflanzenart so lange wie möglich am leben zu halten und durch verschiedene prozedural generierte Level zu steuern. Dabei stellen Terrain und Fauna die Spielerinnen und Spieler laufend vor neue Herausforderungen. Mit über 30 unterschiedlichen Skills gilt es Aussehen, Fortpflanzungsart und Spezialisierung der Pflanzen anzupassen und so das Überleben der Spezies zu sichern. Vom dornenverschießenden Pilz über fleischfressende Moose bis hin zu früchtetragenden Farnen sind alle erdenklichen Kombinationen möglich und sorgen für viel Spiel- und Kombinationsspaß.

Sam’s Garden is a real time strategy game with RPG elements. The goal is to keep your plant species alive as long as possible and guide it through several procedurally generated levels. Both terrain and fauna present obstacles. Over 30 different skills allow the modification of appearance, reproduction and specialization of your plant species so as to ensure the survival of them. From a thorn-throwing mushroom, to carnivorous moss, to fruitbearing fern – all imaginable combinations are possible and provide a lot of fun!
